KANYINI is a story told by Uncle Bob Randall, a member of the
Yankunytjatjara people of Central Australia and one of the traditional
owners of Uluru, the greatest monolith in the world.
In this compelling documentary Uncle Bob tells us about his life, about the
history of Australia, and about the impacts of European colonization from an
Aboriginal perspective. Based on Bob's own personal journey and the wisdom
he learned from the elders living in the bush, Bob tells the tale of why
Indigenous people are now struggling in a modern world and what needs to be
done for Indigenous people to move forward. A tale of Indigenous wisdom
clashing against materialist notions of progress, this is not only a story
of one man and his people but the story of the human race. (53 minutes).
GREEN BUSH. As Kenny works the night shift at an Australian Aboriginal
community radio station, we see the radio station as much more than a place
for spinning records, and Kenny as much more than the local DJ. This
narrative short film by award-winning director Warwick Thornton is not to be
missed. (26 minutes).
