11th Phoenix Film Fest

In the Spotlight this week is the 11th Annual PHOENIX FILM FESTIVAL(PFF), a celebration of independents at a state-of-the-art venue in the beautiful Valley of the Sun. Named one of the "Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals" by MovieMaker Magazine, PFF was also celebrated in the film festival documentary OFFICIAL REJECTION, and enjoys a reputation as a highly filmmaker-friendly event with a helpful staff, exciting program, and notable perks.

With the PFF Festival Party Pavilion and seminar center just a stone's throw away from the seven-screen theater, as well as many local eateries on-site and a nearby filmmaker hotel with all-day shuttle service, PFF's 20,000+ attendees per year can enjoy the convenience of a centralized event. All exhibiting filmmakers will receive two VIP passes to screenings and festival events, and feature filmmakers can also take advantage of air transportation within the Continental US and complementary hotel stay.

The winning films in each category receive the coveted Copper Wing Trophy. Categories of competition include Features and Shorts, World Cinema, Documentaries, Animated Shorts, and unique offerings such as College Short Films, Grade School/High School Short Films, Screenplays taking place in Arizona, and more. Films screened at PFF routinely go on to theatrical release or studio DVD release, with an impressive 80% success record to date.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
PFF was started in 2001 by filmmakers who wanted Phoenix to have a first-class film festival whose primary focus was on the film and filmmakers. Since then, the Festival has become a premier film event in Arizona and continues to maintain a focus on independent films and the filmmakers behind them.

The Phoenix Film Foundation is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support and develop the growth of independent filmmaking in Arizona, to promote the exhibition of independent film, and to conduct educational programs that teach the art of filmmaking.
